Letting Go
Thursday, 13 November 2008
Have you ever had a "friend" that you just couldn't stand? You always scrap, claw and fight. You're constantly picking apart each other's behaviour. In fact, they're often in your head, eating away at you when you're not with them -- they just frustrate you that damn much...
Well, I've had an odd few. I've got one right now, even, and all I keep wondering is why I can't let go?
Logically, I should cut them loose. Good riddence. Au reviour. Don't let me swinging the door hit you on the way out. Even if you have to see the person every day, just blank them still. Who cares, anyway? They're nothing. Not worth thinking about. Problem solved, life continues.
What happens, though, is a cycle of irritation.
"Hello." "Hi." "How're you?" "Not Bad." "...Good." "Er, well, see you." (walks away) (Turning to other friend) "Ooh, she gets on my nerves so much, I could scream."
And this repeats daily. Silly little things becoming big things and sucking the joy out of your experiences.
Is it due to some little tucked-away insecurity, perhaps? I need them to like me, even if I don't like them? Why, oh, why? Their opinion's meaningless, I've already decided that. They have a silly perspective, I contstantly discredit them. So, it shouldn't really matter what they think.
Well, I'm cutting the rope. It's done -- severed. I'm just not interested anymore. Boom.
